When I Think of Research....

What I have gained about research from taking this course is that researching is not an area I am comfortable with.  Personally, I found it to be difficult to grasp and very confusing.
My ideas about doing research haven't changed much.  I still don't understand all the aspects of it, and I am still not comfortable with doing research.  I would much rather leave the research to others and wait for the results.
I think planning, designing, and conducting research in early childhood is a great way to learn about children and the early childhood field for those who are interested in doing research.
This entire process was a challenge for me because I could not get an understanding of most of the terms and concepts involved in the research process.
My perception of the early childhood profession has not changed much.  The topics from my colleagues, that I did get to see, where very interesting topics and I would love to see the results of some of the questions.  The various topics presented reminded me of the dedication of early childhood professional to helping families and children continue to grow and develop.

Thanks to everyone for sharing throughout this course!

  1. Wanda,

There were many terms that I just couldn't wrap my head around no matter how many times I read them or looked them up. Sometimes I just realized that I didn't speak research. Although, I have gained a better understanding for what research is and what it encompasses. I think that's why some people pay out to others to do the dirty work ha ha.

  3. Wanda,
I am still not comfortable with research either. I also had difficulty with many of the terms and concepts as well. No matter how many times I read things over, it was still difficult. Thank you for your post, it helped me feel better about struggling with research at this point in the class.

  4. Wanda,
I can totally relate to you about the difficulty in understanding designing a study! There are so many technical aspects that have to be thought about, I am scared I would miss a crucial step!

I have really enjoyed reading your blogs and learning with you!!

  5. Thank you for your honesty! I felt very similar at the beginning of the course. Although this is still not my favorite topic, I do feel a little more comfortable with it now. Thank you for your professionalism throughout the class. I look forward to seeing you in additional classes.
